SILVER SPRING, Md. – AnthroTronix, an engineering research and development firm committed to optimizing the interaction between people and technology, announced today the addition of retired United States Air Force Colonel and former Astronaut Pamela Melroy to its Board of Directors. Melroy is founder and CEO of Melroy & Hollett Technology Partners. Prior to this position, she was with Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) from 2013 to 2017, serving as deputy director of the Tactical Technology Office. Before DARPA, Melroy was a senior technical advisor and director of field operations for the Federal Aviation Administration’s Office of Commercial Space Transportation. Prior to this she also worked as deputy program manager of Space Exploration Initiatives for Lockheed Martin.

“We are thrilled to add such an accomplished individual to the AnthroTronix board,” said Dr. Cori Lathan, founder and CEO of AnthroTronix. “Colonel Melroy brings unmatched knowledge and experience to our organization as we continue to leverage 18 years of groundbreaking research and development related to advanced interface technology and human performance.”

As an Air Force pilot, Melroy is a veteran of Operation Just Cause and Operation Desert Shield/Desert Storm. She attended the Air Force Test Pilot School and was assigned to the C-17 Combined Test Force and served as a test pilot until her selection for the astronaut program. Melroy has logged over 5,000 hours of flight time in over 50 different aircraft.

During her time at NASA, Melroy completed three spaceflight missions on the International Space Station to conduct repairs and install new equipment. She served as pilot on two of the flights and as mission commander on her last, making her the second woman to command a space shuttle mission.
“I’m honored for the opportunity to be a part of the AnthroTronix team,” said Melroy. “The work they do is more important than ever in today’s technologically demanding world.”

With the addition of Melroy, the AnthroTronix board includes: Dr. Cori Lathan, CEO and board chair; Jack Vice, CTO and president; and Carl Pompei, CFO and executive vice president.
